Student Council

The Honors College Student Council serves as an advisory group to the Dean of the Honors College and is representative of the greater Honors College student body. The Council seeks to foster productive relationships between the Honors College, academic colleges, and the greater university to optimize students’ opportunities to pursue their passions and explore their educations.

Hey! My name is Elea, and I am the College of Science Representative. I am a junior majoring in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience, double-minoring in Creative Writing and International Studies. I am the Founder and CEO of Kids Can Write, an International Non-Profit to help children become published authors! I am also involved in various groups at VT, such as the Writing Center, Innovate LLC, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Additionally, I also conduct nanotechnology research as a Fralin Research Fellow. Whether you need advice socially, academically, or just a friendly ear, I am always here to reach out to at eleamaria@vt.edu! Hi! My name is Alanis and I will be representing the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design. I am a junior majoring in architecture with minors in Landscape Architecture and Visual Arts. In addition, I am involved with the service sorority Omega Phi Alpha, Virginia Tech Swim Club, and Blacksburg Special Olympics. In my free time I love to be outside, swim and workout, draw and paint, and of course cheer on the Hokies at football games! I am so excited to become more involved with Virginia Tech and the Honors College, as this is my first year on the HCSC. Hello, I am Theodore a neuroscience major at Virginia tech. I was born and raised in Fairfax Virginia I am currently in my second year at Virginia tech and I am minoring in music and German. I enjoy doing a variety of activities such as skiing, hiking, biking (some of my friends got me into mountain biking recently), I enjoy practicing cello, and I occasionally try to compose, and more. I am proud and excited to be a HCSC member this year.

My name is Austin Elliott and I am the college of Agriculture and Life Sciences HCSC representative. I am a sophomore studying biochemistry and psychology, and try to maintain an active role on campus. I hold positions in my pre-health fraternity as well as Biochemistry club. I am also a Student Leader this year as well as a peer mentor for my major. In my free time I enjoy playing soccer, going on hikes, and listening to music. Hello everyone! I’m Taylor and I am a senior pursuing a dual degree in MCA and DMS with a minor in Honors Transdisciplinary Praxis. I am also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board for Pamplin, the Lead TA for the Pamplin Engage program, a TA for ACIS 1504, a member of Pi Sigma Epsilon, a consultant in CGVT, a member of MABS, and apart of the American Red Cross on campus. I love everything outdoors (especially when it comes to the ocean) and am a big advocate for trying new things. Hi everyone! I am Neelie Harris and am a sophomore majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Event and Experience Management. I am an Apartment Fellow in the Honors Residential College and also part of the Calhoun Honors Discovery Program. I am from Smithfield, Virginia and love all things beach and water. I love playing pickleball with my family and trying new coffee shops. I cannot wait to serve as a General Body Representative for the HCSC this year!

Hi guys! My name is Molly Meehan and I represent the College of Natural Resources and Environment. I am a senior in Environmental Conservation and Society with minors in Environmental Economics and Sustainability. I am also a member of the co-ed environmental service fraternity, Lambda Iota Mu. I play a handful of intramural sports and am an avid sports fan. I love hiking, the ocean, hammocking and pretty much anything outside. I can’t wait to represent CNRE! My name is Rhea Rajeev and I am a general body representative for the Honors Council. I am double majoring in Business Information Technology and Cybersecurity with a concentration in Decision Support Systems. I am also minoring in International Business. I have a huge passion for traveling as it exposes me to new places, people, and cultures. I am a part of Delta Sigma Pi and Delta Gamma and I love spending time with them as I have built lasting connections and met amazing people. I am also a part Peer Assistant for Learning Training and Global Mentor Program. I hope to continue to give back to my community through these organizations as Virginia Tech has given me a loving community. I am so excited to be a part of this council and I hope to bring in new ideas and meet new people.

Hello everyone! My name is Laci and I am representing the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. I am currently a junior double majoring in Political Science and Philosophy, Politics, and Economics with the intention to eventually attend law school. I enjoy being an active member on campus and although I am a member of other campus organizations outside of the HCSC, I hope to join more this year. Outside of school I enjoy reading, hanging out with friends, family and my dogs, hiking, and baking. Hi everyone! I’m Shenan and am a second year majoring in Architecture and minoring in Smart and Sustainable Cities. I am also an Apartment Fellow and the Historian for the HRC in East Ambler Johnston and a member of AIAS. I am from Catonsville, MD, about ten minutes outside of Baltimore. I really enjoy hiking, camping, traveling, playing sports, and making jewelry! I’m super excited to be a General Body Representative for the HCSC this year!

Hi! My name is Daisy Yates and I am the College of Engineering Representative. I am a Junior majoring in Civil Engineering with a minor in Green Engineering. I'm involved with the College of Engineering Dean's Team and I'm a Student Leader in the Honors Residential Commons at East AJ. In my free time I love to crochet, knit, and sew. I also enjoy hiking, climbing, and all outdoor activities. I look forward to being a representative on the council!
