The Honors College Student Council serves as an advisory group to the Dean of the Honors College and is representative of the greater Honors College student body. The Council seeks to foster productive relationships between the Honors College, academic colleges, and the greater university to optimize students’ opportunities to pursue their passions and explore their educations.

Hey guys! My name is Maddie Fortner and I am the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences representative. I am currently a junior pursuing a dual degree in International Studies and Religion and Culture, with minors in NSFA and Spanish. Outside of academics, I enjoy going to VT athletic games and serve as the Vice President of the service sorority Delta Chi Gamma. In addition, I work at McComas Gym as a cycle instructor and facility supervisor. I am so excited to meet you all and look forward to a great year!
Hi, everybody! My name is Vivian and I represent the College of Architecture and Urban Studies. I am a third year Architecture major with minors in Sociology and Landscape Architecture. I am a member of the VT chapters of the American Institute of Architecture Students, the American Society of Landscape Architects, and Building Women in Construction. Outside of class, you’ll most likely find me playing pickup-volleyball, sketching in various spots throughout campus, learning to play the guitar, or volunteering at Tech’s horse farms through the Equine Volunteer Program. I am Milind Gupta, the Non-Housing representative of the Honors College Student Council. I am currently a junior studying Computer Engineering (Machine Learning) with a minor in Math. I am a part of the Mozaiko Living Learning Community at Virginia Tech where I serve as a mentor to freshmen. I am also an Honor Court Panel Member in which I serve as a student representative on the University Judicial Panel. My most significant accomplishment since I have been a student at Virginia Tech is getting selected for the Design Thinking impACCt Challenge. In fall 2020, I was one of the 4 selected students to represent VT in this design challenge among various universities like Clemson, Boston College, and North Carolina State University. Hi everyone! My name is Anna and I’m a senior majoring in HNFE studying to be a dietitian. Here at Virginia Tech, I am president of the Student Nutrition and Dietetics Association, a member of the Health Education Awareness Team, and a master’s candidate for the MSND accelerated program. My interests are infinite, and I’d be happy to talk with you about reading, exercising, writing, exploring, crafting, sleeping (lol), running, counseling, and (of course) nutrition! I’ve had quite a few jobs during my college career, including working at Lewis Gale hospital, the Student Calling Center, Jamestown Settlement, a local nursing home, and as an Assistant Manager at Dining Services. Hello everyone! My name is Brittany Lawrence, and I am the Presiding Member and College of Science Representative for the HCSC. I’m a senior majoring in Biochemistry and Chemistry with a plan to become a pathologist. I have been involved with several other groups and organizations on campus, including Dr. Carla Finkielstein’s cancer research lab and Relay for Life. This semester, I am a TA for the BCHM 4124 lab for Professor Hite and I work at a local CVS Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. On the weekends, you can always find me at the VT football games or rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles! I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to participate in the HCSC, and I look forward to meeting you all very soon!
My name is William Poland and I am serving as the HCSC representative for the College of Engineering. I am a junior studying Electrical Engineering, specifically RF & Microwave Engineering. On campus, I am part of the Calhoun Discovery Program, a researcher with the Hume Center’s MEEP Program, and also an RA for the HRC in East AJ. In my free time, I’m an avid musician who loves to play piano, drums, and guitar. I also enjoy playing chess, watching movies, and eating spicy foods. My name is Maggie Smith and I am studying wildlife conservation and biology with the hopes of going to vet school. I lived in the Honors Residential Commons for two years and served as the director of service for the community. I am also a member of the Leadership Institute of the College of Natural Resources and an ambassador for the college. On top of being PCOB's representative, I also serve as the head of marketing for the Honors College Student Council. I am a rising junior pursuing degrees in Finance and Management. This is will be my second year on the council, and I hope to continue strengthening the relationship between the Pamplin College of Business and the Honors College.
