Hey guys! My name is Maddie Fortner and I am the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences representative. I am currently a junior pursuing a dual degree in International Studies and Religion and Culture, with minors in NSFA and Spanish. Outside of academics, I enjoy going to VT athletic games and serve as the Vice President of the service sorority Delta Chi Gamma. In addition, I work at McComas Gym as a cycle instructor and facility supervisor. I am so excited to meet you all and look forward to a great year!

Hi, everybody!  My name is Vivian and I represent the College of Architecture and Urban Studies.  I am a third year Architecture major with minors in Sociology and Landscape Architecture.  I am a member of the VT chapters of the American Institute of Architecture Students, the American Society of Landscape Architects, and Building Women in Construction.  Outside of class, you’ll most likely find me playing pickup-volleyball, sketching in various spots throughout campus, learning to play the guitar, or volunteering at Tech’s horse farms through the Equine Volunteer Program.  This is my first year on the HCSC and I look forward to working with and getting to know you all!  Please feel free to reach out to me at vgruendel@vt.edu with any questions you may have about the Honors College or CAUS.

Hey everyone!
I am Milind Gupta, the Non-Housing representative of the Honors College Student Council. I am currently a junior studying Computer Engineering (Machine Learning) with a minor in Math. I am a part of the Mozaiko Living Learning Community at Virginia Tech where I serve as a mentor to freshmen. I am also an Honor Court Panel Member in which I serve as a student representative on the University Judicial Panel. My most significant accomplishment since I have been a student at Virginia Tech is getting selected for the Design Thinking impACCt Challenge. In fall 2020, I was one of the 4 selected students to represent VT in this design challenge among various universities like Clemson, Boston College, and North Carolina State University. My interests and hobbies include badminton, ping pong, call of duty, and food. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns regarding Honors College. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi everyone! My name is Anna and I’m a senior majoring in HNFE studying to be a dietitian. Here at Virginia Tech, I am president of the Student Nutrition and Dietetics Association, a member of the Health Education Awareness Team, and a master’s candidate for the MSND accelerated program. My interests are infinite, and I’d be happy to talk with you about reading, exercising, writing, exploring, crafting, sleeping (lol), running, counseling, and (of course) nutrition! I’ve had quite a few jobs during my college career, including working at Lewis Gale hospital, the Student Calling Center, Jamestown Settlement, a local nursing home, and as an Assistant Manager at Dining Services. I am so excited to represent all of the awesome CALS honors students. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns/ideas/comments. I’d love to talk with you over coffee or on a walk (both of which I love).

Hello everyone! My name is Brittany Lawrence, and I am the Presiding Member and College of Science Representative for the HCSC.  I’m a senior majoring in Biochemistry and Chemistry with a plan to become a pathologist.  I have been involved with several other groups and organizations on campus, including Dr. Carla Finkielstein’s cancer research lab and Relay for Life.  This semester, I am a TA for the BCHM 4124 lab for Professor Hite and I work at a local CVS Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.  On the weekends, you can always find me at the VT football games or rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles! I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to participate in the HCSC, and I look forward to meeting you all very soon!

My name is William Poland and I am serving as the HCSC representative for the College of Engineering. I am a junior studying Electrical Engineering, specifically RF & Microwave Engineering. On campus, I am part of the Calhoun Discovery Program, a researcher with the Hume Center’s MEEP Program, and also an RA for the HRC in East AJ. In my free time, I’m an avid musician who loves to play piano, drums, and guitar. I also enjoy playing chess, watching movies, and eating spicy foods. I’m looking forward to working on the council and representing the COE! Feel free to reach out to me at whpoland@vt.edu with any questions, concerns, etc.
